Abstract

This research paper addresses the environmental and climate consequences unleashed by the global disruption caused by the coronavirus pandemic. While temporary reductions in air and water pollution and greenhouse gas emissions have been observed, the pandemic has also hindered climate change diplomacy efforts and posed threats to sustainable development. It is evident that there is an urgent need for a comprehensive and effective response to climate change, involving various actors such as cities and corporations. This study utilizes data from the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) and employs rigorous analytical tools to contribute to these pressing issues. The paper presents a performance assessment methodology, conducts an efficiency analysis with a focus on social equity, identifies data-driven environmental opportunities for cities and corporations, and proposes strategies to enhance transparency in reporting practices. The findings of this study provide practical guidelines for improving climate actions and fostering a brighter future for all populations.
