Status Epilepticus Refractory Due to COVID-19 Infection

Background: The COVID-19 infection has been linked to a syndrome known as new-onset refractory status epilepticus (NORSE), which has been documented in the scientific literature. This experiment was carried out to investigate the clinical picture of NORSE related to COVID-19 infection given the comeback of the newer COVID-19 strains and its multi-system symptoms.
Methods: From November 2019 to December 2020, three electronic databases were thoroughly examined. This review includes patients who had COVID-19-related NORSE. The authors of the study calculated the STESS (status epilepticus severity score) for each subject. SPSS version 26 was used for the statistical analysis, and a p-value of 0.05 was considered statistically significant.
