Abstract

In this work, a unique multiple model-based real-time failure detection and isolation (FDI) approach for aircraft jet engines is suggested. The development of a hierarchical and modular design enables the isolation and detection of both single and numerous concurrent defects in the jet engine. A collection of linear models corresponding to various operating modes of the jet engine (namely, healthy and various malfunctioning modes) at each operating point is created by linearizing the twin spool jet engine's nonlinear dynamics. The present operating mode of the system is detected based on analysing the probability related to each operating point of the jet engine using the multiple model technique.
